הממשלה אישרה היום (א') ייצוא מוצרים רפואיים מבוססי קנאביס רפואי, בהתאם להמלצות הוועדה לבחינת היתכנות הייצוא של קנאביס רפואי, בראשות מנכ"ל משרד האוצר, שי באב"ד ומנכ"ל משרד הבריאות, משה בר סימן טוב שהגישה את המלצותיה לשרי האוצר והבריאות בחודש אוגוסט 2017.
בעקבות אישור ההצעה יחל ייצוא מוצרים רפואיים סופיים שיקבלו רישיון על ידי הרגולטור במשרד הבריאות, למדינות המתירות שימוש רפואי במוצרים אלו בתחומן, בהתאם לנהוג במוצרים רפואיים אחרים.
ההצעה הובאה לשולחן הממשלה לאחר שהוסכמה עם כלל המשרדים הרלוונטיים, לרבות משרד הבריאות, הבט"פ, החקלאות, הכלכלה והמשפטים. לאחר שבוצעו תיקוני חקיקה הנוגעים בנושא לשם מתן סמכויות אכיפה למשטרת ישראל.

שר האוצר, משה כחלון: תמכתי לאורך כל הדרך ביצוא הקנאביס הרפואי מישראל, ואני מברך על אישור הממשלה היום. ייצוא הקנאביס הרפואי יעניק למדינת ישראל יתרון עצום בקשר שבין המחקר והפיתוח לבין החקלאות ותעשיית הקנאביס, יביא להכנסות משמעותיות של מטבע חוץ למדינה וימצה את היתרונות שיש למדינת ישראל לכל אורך שרשרת הייצור.
חקלאים, מפעלי ייצור ומפיצים רבים ביצעו השקעות גדולות על סמך הכוונות שלנו וכעת הם ייהנו מפרי עמלם. ההחלטה שאושרה היום נגררה יותר מדי שנים ללא הצדקה ממשית.
אני מציע לכל שותפיי בהנהגת המדינה לפעול במהירות על מנת שלא נאבד לחלוטין את היתרון התחרותי שיש לנו בתחום זה".
