האיגוד הישראלי לכירורגיה פלסטית ואסתטית בהסתדרות הרפואית פרסם הודעה בהמשך למחקר של ה"גרדיאן" הבריטי לפיה דווח כי במשרד הבריאות בבריטניה, הצטברו 1,459 דיווחים על תופעות לוואי הקשורות ב'שתלים' ל'הגדלת שדיים' וזאת במהלך שלוש השנים האחרונות.
"המחקרים לא מצאו קשר בין משתלי סיליקון לסרטן השד וזה משמח אותנו מאד אבל, צריך לזכור שלטיפול אסתטי יש סיבוכים וסיכונים ולכן כל אישה חייבת לזכור שניתוח פלסטי או טיפול אסתטי מכל סוג עושים רק אצל רופא מומחה בכירורגיה פלסטית", מסר ד"ר מאיר כהן, יו"ר האיגוד הישראלי לכירורגיה פלסטית ואסתטית בהסתדרות הרפואית והוסיף: "אנחנו מעודכנים בכל מידע חדש ודואגים תמיד לבריאות האישה וזכויותיה, מדובר בתופעות לוואי נדירות וידועות שדיווחנו עליהן למשרד הבריאות כבר לפני שלושה חודשים בנייר עמדה.
אנחנו ממליצים לנשים שעברו הגדלת חזה או שיחזור שד, גם אם הכל בסדר לפנות למנתח הפלסטי שלהן בחלוף כ – 10 שנים על מנת להיבדק ולקבל מידע על החלופות לרבות מעקב או החלפת המשתלים. אנו קוראים למשרד הבריאות לאמץ את המלצותינו לתעודת אחריות אחידה לשתלים בעת מתן אישור ליבוא משתלים לישראל ובמקביל להקים מאגר מידע לאומי לתיעוד סיבוכים בתחום הרפואה האסתטית".
נייר העמדה של האיגוד העוסק בטיפול בסיבוכים הנקרא "סיבוכי משתל שד והמלצה לאחריות" נשלח למנכ"ל משרד הבריאות – משה בר סימן טוב, ראשת מנהל רפואה – ורד עזרא ומנהל האגף לציוד רפואי – ד"ר נדב שפר בספטמבר 2018, הנייר נכתב על ידי וועדה שהוקמה באיגוד בראשות ד"ר רם סילפן.
האיגוד הישראלי לכירורגיה פלסטית ואסתטית הוקם במטרה להוות מסגרת ארגונית מקצועית לכ-300 הרופאים המומחים והמתמחים העוסקים בכירורגיה פלסטית בישראל ולפעול לקידום ופיתוח המקצוע בתחום הטיפול, ההוראה והמחקר. האיגוד המהווה חלק בלתי נפרד מההסתדרות הרפואית בישראל, מטפח קשרים עם ארגונים בינלאומיים העוסקים בניתוחים פלסטיים ומתעדכן בחידושים ומגמות במטרה ליישמם בארץ.
ד"ר רון עזריה, רופא ומנתח פלסטי, חבר באיגוד לכירורגיה פלסטית ואסתטית ומזכיר האיגוד. בוגר הפקולטה לרפואה בבית ספר לרפואה ע"ש סאקלר,באוניברסיטת תל אביב.
