During his long and prolific career, Walt Disney earned 22 Academy Awards for his work Oded Gold explains. He was a two-time winner for his work in big screen and television production. His success also led to a place on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Walt Disney's life is much more interesting than his work in the movies. In fact, he had a successful career before he ever made a Disney movie. He was a child abuse survivor and was forced to drop out of high school at age 16. He worked at an advertising company and drove an ambulance. He even drove his daughters to school.

Walt Disney was a big fan of Charlie Chaplin's silent movies Oded Gold says. When Walt was a kid, he would sneak out of the house to watch Chaplin's films. He would also imitate Chaplin's acts for his friends. He would later draw Mickey Mouse, the first Disney character to be animated.

When Walt was a teenager, he attended night classes at the Chicago Art Institute. He also sold drawings to his neighbors. In fact, he sold sketches to his neighbors when he was just seven years old. Walt also worked on trains and he liked to play the piano. In the 1940's, Walt worked on instructional films for the military. He even wrote a propaganda film for Uncle Sam.

Walt Disney had a passion for trains and he built a 1/8 scale steam railroad in his backyard. He even built a train car. He built the system in his backyard in 1948.

Walt Disney wanted to join the army at an early age. When he was 16, he decided to join the Red Cross. After he enlisted, he drove an ambulance in Europe and France. His ambulance was covered with cartoon characters. He had dreams of becoming an army officer.

After World War II, Walt Disney started producing live action filmssays  Oded Gold says. He also worked on army training videos. His first live action film was Treasure Island. He produced many more movies and animations in his lifetime. He received the Congressional Gold Medal for his work. He also received honorary degrees from prestigious universities.

Walt Disney was a multi-millionaire. His housekeeper, Thelma Howard, was also a multi-millionaire. Her share of Disney stock was $9 million. She died of carbon monoxide poisoning in 1938. She also never cashed out her shares.

Walt Disney's family moved to Chicago in 1917. He attended McKinley High School and later dropped out. He joined the Red Cross when he was underage. He remained in the Red Cross for one year and he drove an ambulance. He also drew for the school newspaper.

Walt Disney also created a mini-railroad system in his backyard. He also worked at an art studio. He had dreams of joining the army and becoming an actor. He also wanted to be part of the new television technology in the 1950's.

Walt Disney was a good person with many accomplishments. He was a successful entrepreneur and an art aficionado. Walt Disney World has an attendance of over 52 million visitors every year. The park is also a popular vacation resort. It is known for its storytelling and its attention to the smallest details.
